CAN PEOPLE’S CONSTITUTION BE PROMULGATED FROM THE STREET OF KATHMANDU !?!

[Firstly, the Royals berated the country and then came 'The Koirala Royals', who ‘ruled’ for almost 18 years with lesser than couple of years’ short interval (1990 - 2008) and tossed the country all in the gutters and whose final transformation turned out to be a King Maker’s and again on whose falsified gravity Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal - an Unelected Nepali, two times loser, twice defeated - got installed on the nations’ highest executive office. This loser Prime Minister had no other option than to elevate the King Maker’s relatively ‘naïve’ daughter to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the country regardless of her unskilled and junior most rank and file in her much hyped ‘democratic’ party – the Nepali Congress Party ! Unbelievable, isn’t it? Now, another boastful hunk is hanging out there whose violent (fierce) – Prachanda - incarnation and orientation fundamentally have been only Bandook Padkauane (gun trotting) not much believing in  the power of ballots even though it looked like the last general kind of election (Constituent Assembly Election 2008) was fairly contested, not stolen at all. Until yesterday he was boasting he would promulgate his People’s Constitution 2010 from the Street of Kathmandu !?!]

We have received few more comments on our post yesterday [Counterfeit Drugs Trade] and all of which can't be addressed here individually. We have actually received more comments pointed towards current political impasse in Nepal. So, it has become kind of a mixed-bag posting this time. Thank you all for your comments anyway. We appreciate your comments very much.

That being said, here we can't solve the problems of counterfeiting and lot more others the country is facing right now, we agree with you all. But we can at least alert the people what is going on, in and around the country which is very dear to us. It was what the motive for the counterfeit drugs trade posting was earlier yesterday. We fully understand that there exist such malpractices since long and the weaker government(s) like ours can do nothing about it. But still it is a matter governments as well as the public should take seriously.

And also the post was not a news-post at all. In fact we do not break any news. It was a report or a view already published in different media. (Later we have added another piece from The New York Times also). We attempt to post issues concerning the Greater Himalayan Region to which we virtually belong and often times we do post issues of the global concerns as well.

We should have written on some other grave issues like the one, the country’s current political impasse, in the first place. Actually yes, we should have, why not ? But writing down here halfway from around the globe, we do not hope much, they would read our posts and listen to our voices as we have anticipated. Also what is left for writing on the country and the peoples down there?

Firstly, the Royals berated the country and then came 'The Koirala Royals', who ‘ruled’ for almost 18 years with lesser than couple of years’ short interval (1990 - 2008) and tossed the country all in the gutters and whose final transformation turned out to be a King Maker’s and again on whose falsified gravity Mr. Until yesterday he was boasting he would promulgate his People’s Constitution 2010 from the Street of Kathmandu !?!

As the May 28th is drawing near the corner, some people are talking about imposition of presidential rule meaning an Emergency Rule in the country and thereby State’s stealing of peoples’ freedom. But we do not feel it would happen at all. Also there is an uproar for ‘resurrecting’ the already ‘killed’ and trashed Constitution of 1990, which might bring the dethroned King back to his royal seat! But throwing cold waters on their hope too, the Supreme Court told the Current Interim Constitution can be prolonged for some time more. But how long and would the squabbling parties be able to come up with a new constitution on the Court’s deadline ? Can the Supreme Court guarantee it?

Since decades, we have been raising some kind of voice for social change and development but what in we believe now is that  writing on a  lawless country like Nepal, whose executive chief is an unelected person meaning again ‘twice defeated and two times loser’ and whose judiciary is heavily under the influence of ‘political crooks’ and also whose  legislative body is totally paralyzed by the Maoist opposition, is quite a waste of time and energy. Terror prevails in Nepal.

Worst of all our fears is - what would be the fate of the Nepalese people should the country go under the shadow of international terrorist networks ?

With due apologies, I would tend to disagree with Biratji's and Ashutoshji's views.
First, the article was not written by Himalyan Voice blog. It was merely posted and circulated by them. And I thank them for this.
Second, just because I have vices doesn't mean I can't criticise the vices of the others. The magnanimity of the vices also needs to be taken into account.
Third, for example, China makes 80% of the electronics used around the world. China also makes 80% of the fake/counterfeit electronics. So do we marvel at the first fact or complaint about the second one? We need to do both.
Fourth, for example, 90% of illicit drugs entering into U.S.A. comes via the Mexican border. U.S.A. consumes 60%-70% of the illicit drugs circulating around the world. So do we complaint against the Mexicans or the U.S.A? Or both?
Fifth, India and U.S.A. create problems (and solutions) for others too. Don't they whine about the problems created by others?
India, for all its greatness, is a country ridden with moths and it is time for a stand up and clean on act. Just because Pakistan and China might be having evils doesn't mean that India can get a clean chit. And just because Nepal's current lot of politicians are devils incarnated, it can't stop us Nepalis from calling the Indian spade a spade.

I second your views, Ashutosh ji.
You have written, "For the most part, we Nepalese ourselves are responsible for this present anarchy in Nepal."
Absolutely correct and our tendency to blame others needs to be kept in check.
Best,
Birat

Is this even a news ?  It happens in every corner of the world (developed and underdeveloped nations), not to mention even small villages.  Pakistan went down and eventually got plagued with terrorism because they were too busy criticizing others and put zero effort in personal/national development.  On the other hand, India interfered in other nation’s internal affairs but at the same time it continued to develop as well.  Which one was a smarter strategy?
Rana Ji, your Himalayan voice is a good advocacy blog for Buddha campaign.  But in no way it implies that you ignore Nepal’s shortcomings. I know bitching about others feels temporarily relieved but in the long run this becomes the reason of one’s failure.  For the most part, we Nepalese ourselves are responsible for this present anarchy in Nepal.  Let’s dream to build a developed/peaceful Nepal not a cemetery of other nations around Nepal.  We shouldn’t be happy with others’ destruction; rather, we should be happy for our achievements.  Let the world become a better place.
Sincerely,
Ashutosh Shrivastav

In my opinion this is normal natural and all over the world as present day people are interested in the money only. There is no reason to impose the emergency rule in
Nepal. The chaos is not because of civil/ public disorders/ disobedience, but of hopeless leaders' inefficiency and failure. Don't expect much from "KHOSTA".

No stone should be left unturned to protect the soverign and territorial integrity of the nation. May be this could be the beginning of  a new phase in the gigantic task of nation building.
Anything is better than the uncertainty, chaos and the anarchy. We will support all the right moves that is geared towards the preservation of Nepal as  a nation and which ensures total law and order.

Dear Sir,
Are those drugs manufactured by the (esteemed) pharmacies to treat (specific) diseases and whom you refer to ORIGINAL for those (specific) diseases (without side effects)? All these chemicals are more dangerous than the PLACEBO, don't you agree? These so called 'Fake Drugs' are cheaper and hence do not loot the patients, don't you agree Sir?

With regards to you all,

Mukund Apte
